Context

Barron’s as a brand is known exclusively for providing deep insights and predictions on the market and companies, providing unique information for investing professionals.

Barron’s offers subscribers and users tons of in-depth analysis via industry-specific articles.

Barron’s traditionally did not attract pure novices new to investing as it doesn’t really offer 101s or investopedia type articles.

COVID and Investing

Unique visitors up 22% during the month of April & May.

It seemed that due to COVID, people were not leaving the house or spending money and investing apparently became an hobbyist outlet.

 

Business Objectives/Questions

How can we enhance the site in a way that offers easy to consume content for new users and does not alienate long time subscribers? How can we design this enhancement quickly?

Outcomes

Product & Design saw an opportunity (informed by user research) to drive engagement and acquire new customers through the creating of a Stocks destination and redesigned quotes pages….that proved successful
